Superior Learning Meets Heartfelt Care

Spark Academy is a State-of-the-Art, Early Childhood Education Program designed to nurture all children 6 weeks through Pre-Kindergarten. Featuring an unparalleled educational environment, engaging curriculum and warm setting, Spark Academy uses a mixed-income model to ensure all children are prepared to shine in kindergarten, as well as within the larger community. Spark is reimagined early care and learning for a diverse population of families who seek an experience that will provide their child a strong foundation for success today and beyond.

Simply put, our program is guided by the latest research in how young children best learn and thrive. In addition to molding next generation minds, Spark Academy looks to bring quality-of-life opportunities to all local families and individuals.

The Spark Difference

A child’s brain develops most rapidly in the years between birth and kindergarten. Research documents the value of high-quality early childhood experiences, citing the marked benefit in all domains: physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and linguistic, including bilingual and multilingual. These benefits have an impact on children that last throughout their lives.

Spark Academy offers reimagined early care and learning with a safe inspiring indoor and outdoor learning environment, a comprehensive data proven curriculum, collaboration with support agencies with a facility design that includes space for early intervention when needed, and an inclusive approach that includes families in their children’s most important years.

Spark Academy features a groundbreaking mixed-income model designed to ensure that ALL children can access an exclusive curriculum that highlights core skills that are truly foundational for children’s learning. Science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math activities are presented in developmentally appropriate context to engage and encourage each child and their families to become part of our learning community.

Meet Our Leadership

Emily Davis

Spark Academy Director
Emily has been an educator for close to twenty years as a licensed teacher with a BA in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed in Elementary Education. Working in both public and private schools in North Carolina, New York City, and Massachusetts has afforded her exposure to the various techniques and educational philosophies of these areas. Her experience includes classroom teaching, consulting, director of admissions, professional development leader, teacher mentor, and board member of a parent cooperative. She has a passion for exploring children’s thought processes by providing materials that extend problem-solving techniques and help children reach higher levels of thinking through play. Creative arts and their role in learning also have a strong influence on her education style. Emily values teacher and student voices, experiences, and reflections as understanding who we are as people is critical for collaborating and putting theory into practice with young children and families.

Outside of school, she enjoys activities involving the outdoors: running, biking, hiking, gardening. She spends most of her time watching her son play soccer, her daughter running cross country and track, or walking her dogs, Harley and Ollie.

Emily has been an active member in the community, launching the first Females in Action (FiA) chapter in the Cape Fear Region. FiA is a free fitness group dedicated to supporting women through activities that fulfill their hearts, minds, and bodies. Additionally, Emily gives back through volunteering at local race events, including the Novant Health Wilmington Marathon, Nourish NC, and her daughters school PTA.
